Family Obligations

(Major Unfavorable Trait)

A character with this trait has people that depend upon them for financial, emotional or other areas of support. This could be a spouse and children, siblings, elderly parents, or a large extended family. Their time, money and actions must be used with these others in mind at all times, and when they fail them it can leave them depressed.

The details of the family members involved, and the obligations, are to be worked out with the GM in advance to take this trait. It may mean that when others are capable of acting spontaneously they must always consider the tethers and needs of these supporting characters, and that their family can be used against them by antagonists in many situations. It also means that they may have to forego acting purely on their own self interests in many situations, or even simply spend more time tied up in the lives of their family members than in their own.

There are some campaigns where this trait may be counter to the spirit of the game, so be sure to ask the GM first before including it. Additionally there are campaigns where this might be a required trait, or one where this becomes one of the Story Traits for plotting.
