(Minor Favorable Trait)
A graduate student must have a field of expertise that they are seeking to become certified in, either to become a College Faculty member or to utilize outside academia in some manner.
The character must have the trait College Degree to take this trait, representing a lesser degree status that they have previously earned.
The character gets an additional 20 Skill ranks to invest at start, to represent the additional training they are receiving as a graduate student, beyond what they have from College Degree and normal the Education attribute rules.
Generally they are focused on completing a Thesis, while working as assistants to one or more College Faculty members on campus. They must have at least one skill, representing their expertise, at Rank 10 at start, and should have a desire to eventually raise that skill in game to 15 or better if they want to become a College Faculty member in the future.
(GM suggests that at least 1 of every 20 Skill ranks the player earns should be spent to advance their official area of expertise).
All Graduate students have a Thesis advisor from the department, and this should generally be an NPC/Supporting character rather than a player character member of the faculty. This is not necessarily a helpful association, nor necessarily a hinderance, so they are an unusual contact situation that does not count as a contact but part of the status of this trait.
Graduate students have a less regimented life than ordinary college students, and often live off campus, but still have responsbilities intruding into their lives along the way.
A character with this trait cannot take the traits College Student, Elderly, Youth or College Faculty.
