Insomnia

(Minor Unfavorable Trait)

A character with this trait has difficulty falling asleep in a normal pattern. Their brain refuses to quiet down properly to enter into a normal sleep state when it is agitated by one stimuli or another. Each time they try to go to sleep a Spirit roll must be made, and at least a 'M' (Moderate) result achieved on the action table or they will be awake for at least another 4 hours (when another attempt can be made).

If they fail to get 8 hours of sleep then they will be at a -2 to all skill and attribute rolls the following day until they do manage to get at least 8 hours of sleep. This will compound with modifiers from any other traits or situations that are ongoing. The exception is their Spirit roll to try to get to sleep, which remains unmodified.

Each day/night cycle after the first produces an additional -2 to all rolls (again except the Spirit roll to get to sleep). If they go for 5 days without sleeping then they will fall into unconsciousness on the next attempt without need for a roll but will be unconscious for a full 12 hours. This then resets their body clock and removes all the insomnia related dice roll minuses until the next time they fail to sleep.
