Interrogation

(Influence Skill)

This is the skill of extracting information from people against their will (unlike Conversation which is used to get people to expose information accidentally or willingly in a more social situation).

Interrogation combines a number of methods, including psychological and social manipulation, mental pressure, sleep deprevation or chemical influences, intricate use of lies and deceptions, and finally the use of mental or physical torture.

Generally interrogation can take hours, days or even weeks to be successful, depending on the strength of will of the subject (it is defended against by Spirit), the skill of the interrogator and the methods chosen. The accuracy or usefulness of information acquired thru the use of this skill varies drastically.

It may be used in combination with with Intimidation to enhance the effects. The GM will determine the necessary time-check points for when the success rolls of the skill are applied.

In many societies the use of torture is unacceptable or unallowed in gathering information that can be used in a court of law or to act as probable cause. In others it is standard procedure for someone that has been accused of a crime.

Note that the use of physical torture done badly may injure or even accidentally kill the subject.
