Knight Of Secrets Spells

The following is the basic starting spell list for a character with the Mystic Path of "The Knight Of Secrets". This is also referred to as Dynamic Mysticism.

Additional Spells used by members of this path have been developed. See : Knight Of Secrets Advanced Spells

Universal Spell Casting Limits : Gestures

Celso’s Secret Of Guidance (-7 )

Target : Individual Time : Instant Effect : Damage/Movement Senses : Hearing, Smell

This is cast as one throws a missile weapon, allowing the missile to track based on the mystic sense used to it’s target, despite normal direct strike barriers between the caster and the target. If successful against the target’s normal defenses against missiles then the damage result occurs doing the normal damage for the weapon. With this one can hurl a knife or other weapon around a corner, or against an invisible foe, etc. as it does not cross the normal intervening distance but temporarily passed into 5th dimensional space and back again to close with the target.

Eyes Of The Owl (-2)

Target: Self Time: Continuing Effect: Enhance Senses: Sight (with reflection), Touch
Special : Concentration, Extra Time : 2 Actions to Cast

This Bestows the character temporarily with the minor favorable trait Nightvision, removing all penalties for dim light or darkness (but not smoke, fog or other obscuring vision problems)

Fireproof Paper (-4)

Target: Object Time: Continuing Effect: Protect Senses: Any

This can only be cast on an object made of primarily paper. It makes the paper unaffected by fire, smoke and heat damage from most known sources (will not stop the effects of a volcano or being dropped into the sun).

Knight’s Gambit (-5 )

Target : Self Time : Continuing Effect : Enhance Sense : Touch, Sight (w/reflection)

This allows the caster, while the spell is in effect, to add ½ of their Spirit value as ranks to their offensive melee attacks (Brawling, Staff or using other hand weapon skill) when they are making Controlled Attacks specifically to Disarm their opponent. They will succeed on their controlled attack on an ‘M’ result in addition to the normal success of a an H, X or C for a controlled attack (and light damage).

Knight’s Mantle Of Honor (-5 )

Target : Self Time : Continuing Effect : Protect Sense : Touch, Sight (w/reflection)

Only usable if the caster isn’t wearing physical armor, and has not violated his Code Of Honor within the past week to protect knowledge. It gives the caster invisible protection to their skin that acts as armor against attacks with a Defense Value equal to their Spirit for the duration.

Mirror Of The Peacock (-6)

Target : Self Time : Continuing Effect : Scry Sense : Sight, Hearing, Smell
Special : Needs a mirror or other reflective surface; Arcane Optional; Concentration

This allows the caster to perceive events at a distant or obscure location. This is limited by their mystic senses; in order to see at that location, they must have mystic sight; in order to hear they must have mystic hearing, and so on. The location can be targeted either with one of the mage’s senses which already allows the mage to perceive some aspect of the location, or through an arcane connection.

It does not allow them to be seen or heard to the target area/subject, only to perceive what is there. While using this effect they cannot take other actions and have no physical defenses.

If they know spells that require Sight to cast at a target, and have this spell active and functional mystic sight and another sense then they can cast thru the reflection at the target.

No One Of Consequence (-8 )

Target : Individual/Area Time : Continuing Effect : Influence/Illusion Sense : Any
Special : Requires a Full Minute To Cast

The target, which can be the caster or any other sentient being is temporarily enchanted by this effect with a complex glamour. Anyone coming into contact with target who did not know them, on a long term personal level, before the spell was cast will forget their face entirely when they leave their general sight. A comparison is made by the GM vs the target’s Spirit to see if they will be effected by the spell. The exception is characters with Eidetic memory, beings with mystic sense smell, and beings of the seventh and eighth dimensions, all of who are immune to this effect entirely.

The higher level of success against a specific Spirit the less they will remember about the encounter, and critical effects mean that they will automatically fail if they encounter the subject of the spell again for any reason, even if they no longer have the spell active on them.

Secret Scroll Sending (-6 )

Target : Individual Time : Continuing Effect : Protect Sense : Arcane
Special : Needs scroll with ribbon, or a sheet of paper and an envelope; needs writing tools; Extra Time (Minute)

The caster needs an arcane connection to the target individual. They write a message on the paper or the scroll. When sealed they complete the spell, and if successful the scroll/envelope will vanish and reappear in the possession of the target, instantly, no matter the distance. Thus a safe, private means of long distance communication.

Sense Secret Eyes (-2)

Target: Self Time: Continuing Effect: Information Senses: Touch, Sight (w/reflection)

This spell allows the caster to know if someone is using any form of scrying magic to perceive them (it does not detect natural or mystic sense being used to observe them, but magically enhanced mystic sense will count as scrying). The caster will get goose bumps as a warning of active scrying from this spell.

The Thousand Scribes Recalled (-8 )

Target: Object (book) Time: Instant Effect: Information/Change Senses: Sight
Special : Blank Book, Ink.

The Knights tell a tale of the waning days of the Opal empire when Obras Kathar, leader of their order realized that the end was soon coming and that as much knowledge of the magic of the empire as possible needed to be preserved. To uphold his Code of Honor he and the inner circle of the order slew a thousand human scribes and one volunteer (chosen by lots) among themselves to create the spiritual component that is the basis of this spell.

These dead are bound to serve the order until the world itself ends. To cast this spell the caster needs a blank book with a leather binding, a bottle of ink and a book with words written within it which is the target of the spell. The blank book must have as many pages or more than the target book. When cast, in an instant, the contents of the blank book duplicates those of the other book in absolute detail. Thus a library might be copied in a single night. The spell will not work any place that is warded against spirits and other denizens of the 8th dimension. The ink is consumed in the casting.

Waterproof Paper (-2)

Target: Object Time: Continuing Effect: Protect Senses: Sight, Touch

This can only be cast on an object made of primarily paper. It makes the paper unaffected by water, preserving ink, charcoal, pencil lead and other materials attached it’s surface from washing off, melting of distorting from the effects of water.

Dave:I suggest that earnest Moncrief's spells might also be put here, though possibly with some sort of description noting that they are not part of the starting spell list.
