Magic Virus Infection

The Skin Changer and many other unusual body effects can occur thru an infection by a Magic Virus. These are, evidently, unusual retro-viruses that have adapted to the amount of magical energy in Zamani to assist in their survival and continuance.

The most studied of these are the one's encountered in Skin Changers which re-writes their DNA to reshape their bodies to and from specific forms (usually of a beastial nature).

Skin Changers Infection

These are spread sexually or from parent to offspring by an infected female. In children they manifest at the start of puberty, while in adults who have been exposed thru sexual contact it can take from 1-10 weeks.

In both cases, when they manifest there is a high probabilty of death. In game mechanics terms there is a percentile roll made (which assumes that the virus has 100% skill) vs the character's Fitness as defense.
This is modified based on any traits that may protect or make worse their defense against such.

Actual damage numbers and specials are unused, only the letter designators of the result are important.

All Critical (C) or Extreme (X) results are fatal. Heavy (H)and Mediuum (M) results means that the character has become a Skin Changer of the appropriate type to the one that infected them. A Limited (L) result means that the character runs a high fever for 1d10 hours (and is at a -2 to all other rolls while under it's effects) but otherwise appears to be unaffected. (They will have another bout with the virius in another 1d10 weeks time).

A result of (A) means that the character's body has fought off the virus entirely and they do not have it. It will not protect them from being infected later.

The only way to be fully protected against a Skin Changer Virus is to already be a Skin Changer, have another magic virus, or to be a Chandanaka.
