Jarjura is a female humanoid divinity of the Upper Dimensions who appears to belong to no specific pantheon and is not associated with any specific species/race of the worlds. Small groups of followers can be found on all the system worlds, except for Drallion (which they have no evident interest in bringing her worship to). Her followers are both male and female, but the clergy are lead by a High Priestess on each world that resides in the Grand Temple. Male clergy are in lesser positions and never head a temple, subservient to all female clergy.
The religious teachings of Jarjura are associated with life and the living, and is in direct opposition to religions associated with death, afterlife, undeath and such. It is a religion with a high belief in the natural cycle and the concept of sequential reincarnation of an immortal spirit.
Practitioners take on life long disadvantages as part of the price of their knowledge and power.
Attack spells are rare among the clergy of Jarjura, except those that can produce unconsciousness without actual Body damage to a target. Defensive magic, healing magic, and helpful spells are common in their selection of effects.
Because they are a small, scattered and are unattached to any specific greater pantheon or belief system they are not well know and may be discriminated against in some areas or even persecuted by some other religions for their beliefs and practices, but their obscurity also helps protect them much of the time..
All spells require Incantations.
None of the spells of Jarjura will work in Temples, Sanctuaries, Shrines, Chapels, Churches or Consecrated Burial grounds of any other religious group. Their magic also fails if on the planet Drallion.
Practitioners cannot have any spells based on Killing Attacks. Cannot have spells that use components associated with the grave (bones, skulls, grave dust, etc.) or which specifically involve animating corpses,
creating undead, speaking with the dead, ghosts. Etc. They are not allowed to travel to or knowledge of the 8th dimension (Verazzan).
Violent Death within perception range of a Servant of Merciful Jarjura causes them physical suffering and pain. They will be stunned on any round this occurs, and will be at -2 to all skill rolls, and defenses, for 10 rounds from the pain involved. It does not matter WHO died or caused the death. They will suffer from it.
They are of course subject to orders from those of a higher position within the religious heirarchy, as well as any divine orders they may receive.
Spells Of Merciful Jarjura, and 1 free skill rank in Physician.
