Size

Character Size information is developed AFTER you have chosen all the character traits and attributes.
The system outlined below is designed to reflect setting concepts of proportion of height and weight, and may not produce medically 'perfect' values like those that various insurance companies etc. rely on.

Height

There are four height ranges, determined by trait. A Diminutive character must be between 6" and 3' and is normally of Mystic Heritage or otherwise influenced to such unsual proportions. A Petite character is between 3' to 5' of height. An Average height character is between 5'1 and 6'4. A Statuesque character is between 6'5 to 8' (and often of Mystic Heritage).

Generally players can choose the height of their character as they desire within the above range based on their height related traits (if any, otherwise they should be in the Average range).

Weight

Convert their Height to inches (so, for example, 5'9 becomes 69 inches). This becomes the Baseline for determining their weight.

Take the character's Fitness. Add this to their Baseline. Then look over their traits and adjust
as per this list:

If the character has the trait Brutish then add 2 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Fat then add add 16 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Fluid Grace then add 2 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Hard To Kill then add 2 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Loathsome then add 4 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Middle Aged then add 4 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Natural Major Armor then add 4 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Natural Minor Armor then add 2 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Natural Severe Armor then add 6 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Obese then add 24 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Overweight then add 8 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Sinks Like A Stone then add 6 to the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Strong Back then add 4 to the Baseline.

If the character has the trait Cadaverous Looks then minus 4 from the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Easily Underestimated then minus 2 from the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Easy To Kill then minus 2 from the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Elderly then minus 4 from the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Fast Reflexes then minus 2 from the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Lightning Reflexes then minus 2 from the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Lost Leg then minus 5 from the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Mystic Heritage then minus 2 from the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Paraplegic then minus 8 from the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Viral Vulnerability then minus 2 from the Baseline.
If the character has the trait Youth then minus 2 from the Baseline.

Note: No character should have a baseline of less than 1 after all calculations!

If the character is Female, then take the Baseline and multiply it by 1.75 to get their weight in lbs.

If the character is Male, then take the Baseline and multiply it by 2.5 to get their weight in lbs.

Joseph Teller:So, the question is, is this being too complex (in concept of achieving realistic character weights)? Would it better to simply have folks choose and not worry about it (which is what I was doing up to this point)? Where do I need to be more Abstract? Where do I need to be mroe precise in this game mechanics design?
