Speedboats are fast moving open power boats that aren't practical in a storm or in high seas, but which can whiz along rivers, lakes, and coastal waters impressively. They generally have a lot of maneuverability as well, but limited passenger and cargo capacity.

Besides being great for high speed chases, these boats also can make great small scale smuggling tools, getaway vehicles or recreational vehicles in warm weather. They offer limited protection from damage by attacks though, but can operate in fairly shallow water.

They can easily be carried on a tramp freighter for fast offloading of passengers and less than legal goods without coming into port, and can be moored to a houseboat easily as well.

Trailers are available to hook them onto large automobiles and trucks.

This is not a practical trait choice if a campaign is not going to be regularly near water or if it involves world traveling by methods other than sea. Check with your GM before taking it because of these limitations.
