Undesired Destiny

(Severe Unfavorable Trait)

A character with this trait has been saddled with, since birth or since a very early time in their life, a destiny that seems to be inescapable and which hangs over them like a sword of Damocles.

This destiny may be the result of a curse laid upon their family line (or parents), or it may be the result of a bad choice in their youth. They will seek to avoid this destiny at all costs, but it seems that no matter what they do it continues to plod forward into their life.

These are never simple to avoid things, these are complex things like the curse of Oedipus, where the more you struggle against them the tighter the noose may become. They should be aware of the destiny (as will be arranged with them by the GM) to make this a truly powerful element in the character's life.

Taking this trait gives the GM the responsibility and power to modify probability, enables the possibility that the very gods of the world will be meddling in the life of the character to bring about the destiny (or in some cases to try to help stop it in less than pleasant ways).
